2008 SOČA REGGAE RIVERSPLASH TOLMIN, SLOVENIA

8TH SOČA REGGAE RIVERSPLASH PROUDLY WELCOMES THE LEGEND OF JAMAICAN ROOTS MICHAEL ROSE AND THE GREATEST RISING STAR IN REGGAE AT THE MOMENT, ALBOROSIE.
This year’s edition of largest Slovene reggae festival, SOČA REGGAE RIVERSPLASH main stage will host Jamaican star MYKAL ROSE (formerly known as Michael Rose) who became known as the vocalist of the trio BLACK UHURU, and a new rising star on international reggae scene, ALBOROSIE from Italy. Mykal Rose & The Dubline Band (Great Britain) and Alborosie & Sheng Yeng Clan joined the group of performers who already confirmed their presence on 8th Riversplash which will take place in idyllic atmosphere at the confluence of Tolminka river and Soča river, from Tuesday 15th of July through the night of Saturday 19th of July.
Among performers who already confirmed their appearance at 2008 Riversplash we are more than glad to announce legendary MISTY IN ROOTS from Great Britain, and group MIDNITE from the Virgin Islands which plays very unique style of roots reggae and rarely holds concerts in Europe. Another unique band just confirmed their concert, EASY DUB ALLSTARS, who made unforgettable remake of Pink Floyd’s DARK SIDE OF THE MOON cover.
Certainly visitors will also enjoy themselves on the beach, enjoying KING SHILOH SOUND SYSTEM (Netherlands) and other artists on various stages, like OMAR PERRY & Homegrown Band (Jamaica), MOONRAISERS (Switzerland), LOS POLLITOS (Argentina), PRINCE ALLA (Jamaica) & NAJAVIBES BAND (Switzerland), ASHER SELECTOR (Switzerland), HORNSMAN KOYOTE (Serbia), SOPOT (Bosnia and Herzegovina), ST!LLNESS (Croatia), and some local groups, the »dub team« DUBZILLA from Novo Mesto and ska group CELL OUT from Kočevje who also confirmed their performances. The programme has not been finalised yet as we are still waiting for confirmation of some performers for both floors. Check our pages for more announcements.
Beach at Soča river, where "sound system floor” has been located previous years, will be reserved for famous KING SHILOH SOUND SYSTEM from Netherlands. King Shiloh will open this edition of festival, as usually they will be performing on their own sound system for several days together. So, it’s King Shiloh, all way long!
This year, we are putting a lot of effort to provide high-quality catering for all tastes and pockets. Special emphasis will be placed on a suitable and highly trained, and nice to visitors, security service. Even more emphasis will be placed on various outside-festival activities, a number of thematic workshops, sports games, video projections and other activities that made festival nicer place previous years and will give it unique touch this year.
From Tuesday 15th of July through the night of Saturday 19th of July to Sunday 20 July 2008 you will be able to enjoy, in manner of reggae culture, in high-quality music program as well as relaxed festival life which cannot be found anywhere else than at Riversplash in Tolmin, at the confluence of Tolminka and Soča river.
