HEARTICAL presents BDF’S “MINISTERIO DEL DUB” RIDDIM

We are proud to present our very first series of 7” on an original riddim created by BDF (Basque Dub Foundation). This one is called “Ministerio Del Dub” and recaptures perfectly the great sound of the 70’s as exemplified by legendary bands like Soul Syndicate or Roots Radics. To make it complete we bring you some of the most accomplished veterans in the business featuring 9 different vocals, a Dub Cut and our classic Melodica Cut featuring BDF‘s top man Iñaki Yarritu. All tracks mixed by Dub Terror in London. One more surprise, on the last single of the series, you can also discover the talent of French female singer Lady M in combination with the sweet Jamaican singer Antonio. It’s all about an international duo voiced over Trevor T (UK) & Ernie Wilks (JA) brilliant recut of Whitney Houston’s hit “My Love is your Love”... Enjoy the vibes!

Listen to the promotion Megamix of Ministerio del Dub, 9 vocals :

Only available on 7” & Digital from your best distributors, check it out :

HS037 – ALTON ELLIS O.D “Peaceful Valley” / BDF & DUB TERROR “Ministerio Del Dub”
Often called “Mr Soul of Jamaica”, Alton Ellis is a legendary name in Jamaican music. He was awarded the Jamaican Order of Distinction for his outstanding contribution to the Island’s music industry. In 1959, he was the first artist to record for the legendary Studio One label owned by the late Clement “Coxsone” Dodd. He then followed on recording massive hits for Duke Reid’s Treasure Isle. He left the Island to settle down in England where he was living for years. In 2006, he was inducted into the International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA) Hall of Fame. As a sound system, Heartical had been meeting him regularly for dubplate purposes since 1999. It was in London in 2006, that he voiced this very inspired song over BDF’s “Ministerio del Dub” version, demonstrating his talent was just the same almost 50 years after the beginning of his music career! The great Alton Ellis sadly passed away last October 11, 2008 in London, his music lives forever . On the B-Side, you can enjoy the excellent dub cut of this Alton Ellis song. All tracks mixed by Dub Terror in London and produced by Heartical in 2008.

HS038 – DAVID “STEEL PULSE” HINDS “Jah Vengeance” / BDF “Ministerio Del Dub”
David Hinds is the lead singer & guitar player of the legendary UK reggae group Steel Pulse. Steel Pulse was the first UK group ever to be awarded a Grammy Award for their LP “Babylon bandit” in 1986. The group was nominated several times for “Best Reggae album” like in 1984, 1998, 2000 and 2004. Unlike many reggae artists, David Hinds is known for only recording for his own Steel Pulse label. He recently cut a few singles for independent producers; this was the first one he voiced for Heartical in Paris in 2006. A spiritual lyrics fitting perfectly BDF’s “Ministerio Del Dub” and reminding everyone that time is the master. On the B-Side, you can listen to Basque Dub Foundation’s leader, Iñaki Yarritu, blowing the Melodica in a pure Far East style. All tracks mixed by Dub Terror in London and produced by Heartical in 2008.

HS039 – EARL 16 “Virtual Generation” / BDF & DUB TERROR “Ministerio del Dub”
Earl 16 is a veteran Jamaican singer who started his career in 1973. He is probably one of the few singers who have recorded for every big foundation label in Jamaica. He worked with Augustus Pablo’s Rockers Label, Lee Scratch Perry’s Black Ark, Clement Dodd’s Studio One, King Tubby’s or Derrick Harriot’s Crystal label. Now settled in London, he often tours Europe using Basque Dub Foundation as his backing band. It was only natural that he recorded these brilliant lyrics about modern technology’s abuses in 2007 over BDF’s “Ministerio Del Dub”. On the B-Side, you can listen to Basque Dub Foundation’s leader, Iñaki Yarritu, blowing the Melodica in a pure Far East style. All tracks mixed by Dub Terror in London and produced by BDF in 2008.

HS040 – MYKAL ROZE “Wah Dat” / BDF “Ministerio del Dub”
Mykal Roze is now a household name for the Heartical label. He is internationally famous for his recordings with the legendary Black Uhuru band. In 1985, as the lead singer of the group, he was awarded the first Grammy Award ever received by a Reggae band. During this period, Black Uhuru became one of the most popular reggae groups in the world, regularly touring with the likes of The Clash, The Police and The Rolling Stones. Michael Rose has been following a solo career since 1985, recording for labels like Star Trail, Taxi, Observer, Maxximum Sound, Stingray or King Jammy’s. He recently scored two massive hits in the International Reggae Charts with “Shoot out” and “Real Jamaican” in combination with Busy Signal. For his 4th release on the Heartical label, voiced in Paris in 2007, Mykal Roze sticks to his conscious lyrics burning Babylon system with word, sound and power over BDF’s “Ministerio del Dub”. On the B-Side, you can listen to Basque Dub Foundation’s leader, Iñaki Yarritu, blowing the Melodica in a pure Far East style. All tracks mixed by Dub Terror in London and produced by Heartical in 2008.

HS041 – ZAREB a.k.a MR FLASH “Ghetto Youths” / PAPA KOJAK “Evil Forces”
Certain talents just take time to get exposed... Previously known as Mr Flash, the conscious Jamaican singer Zareb is mostly known as a sparring partner of Fantan Mojah. Together they recorded the anthem “Rastafari is the Ruler” and a few more combinations. Zareb also worked as a solo artist for many independent producers like Bobby Digital’s Digital B. Last year, he released his debut album on Pow Pow’s label (Germany). His singing talent & writing skills are obvious in this track voiced in Kingston in 2006, which comes complete together with singer’s Tampanae sweet backing vocals. On the other side, we have the return of veteran Rub a Dub Deejay Papa Kojak a.k.a Nigger Kojak for his second single on the Heartical label. His toasting and chanting ability remains the same 30 years after his debut in Kingston’s dancehalls, as he demonstrates here riding BDF’s “Ministerio del Dub” with full class and pure reality lyrics. All tracks mixed by Dub Terror in London and produced by Heartical in 2008.

HS042 – LITTLE ROY “Remember Jah” / BDF “Ministerio Del Dub”
Little Roy is a veteran Jamaican singer. He started his career in 1968 recording for legendary producers and labels like Clement Dodd’s Studio One, Lloyd Daley’s Matador or Prince Buster. As an independent self produced artist he released many classics internationally famous like “Prophecy” in 1972 (The first Jamaican vocal over “Peanut Vendor” aka “Taxi” riddim) or “Tribal War” in 1974. His classic albums have been reissued by UK label Pressure Sounds in the recent years. Little Roy is known for recording very rarely for other producers since he created his own Tafari records label in 1972, he still gave us the pleasure to voice this second single for the Heartical label in 2006. On the B-Side, you can listen to Basque Dub Foundation’s leader, Iñaki Yarritu, blowing the Melodica in a pure Far East style. All tracks mixed by Dub Terror in London and produced by Heartical in 2008.

HS043 – SUGAR MINOTT “Trodding” / BDF “Ministerio Del Dub”
Having worked for almost every important producer in the industry, Lincoln “Sugar” Minott has scored an amazing quantity of hits over the years. Since his early days inside the group African Brothers in 1969, he has moved on to become a major artist of the legendary Studio one label recording timeless hits like “Mr DC”, “Vanity” or “Never give Jah up”. Even after creating his own Black Roots label, he was still recording for the likes of King Jammy’s, Channel One, Powerhouse, Wackies, Taxi or Exterminator. Inside his Youthman Promotion sound system, he helped launching the career of crucial artists like Tenor Saw, Garnett Silk, Yami Bolo and many more. Sugar Minott stands as the ultimate Godfather as regards Heartical Sound and label, this tight relationship can be heard on this amazing track entirely voiced by Sugar at this own Black Roots studio in Kingston in 2006. On the B-side listen to BDF’s & Dub Terror working on the mixing board to achieve a great dub cut of this riddim. All tracks mixed by Dub Terror in London and produced by Heartical in 2008.

HS044 – CARL DAWKINS “Doggy Dog World” / LADY M & ANTONIO “My Love is your love”
Carl Dawkins name is known to any good reggae specialist for his hit song “Satisfaction”, which riddim was recently rebuilt for Richie Spice’s track “Grooving my girl”. But this gifted songwriter is also responsible for songs like “Baby I Love you” (1966), “Burning fire” or the excellent “Rhythm of my Heart” for Studio One label. Carl Dawkins also recorded a four songs with the original Wailers playing (including Alton & Carton Barrett) and harmonizing (Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer and Bob Marley) for him at Lee Scratch Perry’s Black Ark ! In 2006, Heartical visited Jamaica and it was at Sugar Minott’s own Black Roots Studio that Carl Dawkins voiced these fine reality lyrics over BDF’s “Ministerio del Dub”. On the other side of this single, we are proud to present French female singer Lady M’s debut single in combination with the gifted Jamaican vocalist Antonio. Together they deliver an excellent international combination mixing French and Jamaican language. The track is voiced over Trevor T and Ernie Wilks reworking of Whitney Houston’s hit song “My love is your love”. This track was mixed by Trevor T in London and Digital Indian in Paris, produced by Heartical in 2008.
